Volunteer Spotlight: Dr. Sato 150 150 Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA

This past semester at our Roanoke Club our 3rd and 4th Grade classrooms have been able to take a journey into the future! Dr. Takumi Sato is a Clinical Assistant Professor specializing in Science Education at Virginia Tech. Dr. Sato has been working diligently with our 3rd and 4th graders every Thursday to teach them how to program their own robots. Dr. Sato has been volunteering at the Club for several years now and has taken on a mentoring role to help our students as they progress in their professional and educational development. Through his robotics program he has been able to not only give our members the opportunity to work in a high-tech environment, he has also been able to teach good character and teamwork; two things we try to instill in all of our members. Like all of our volunteers, Dr. Sato is dedicated to the work he does at the Club and committed to helping our members grow. He has been able to take a personal passion and provide a huge opportunity for our kids. . . If you have a passion of your own and love to help out future generations, our Clubs are the place to be!
