A Unique Twist on the Typical Annual Dinner Fundraiser

A Unique Twist on the Typical Annual Dinner Fundraiser 1640 924 Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA

This Giving Tuesday, spend an hour or two of your day at The Grandin Theatre with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia (BGCSWVA). November 29, 2022 is the premiere date for the new film Impressions: 25 Years of Inspiring Local Youth, a joint project between BGCSWVA and Firefli, a digital services company located in Roanoke, with creative lead Will Sellari. The film documents stories from current and former Club members, parents, community partners, and founding Board Members who saw a need and answered the call twenty-five years ago.

Twenty-five featured stories. Impressions: 25 Years of Inspiring Local Youth is a feature film showcasing footage from BGCSWVA’s eleven Club locations in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem City, Montgomery County, and Franklin County. Filmmaker Will Sellari interviewed multiple Club members, alumni, staff, parents, volunteers, and board members to create this film.

The Club Experience is created with impactful moments. The film premiere at the Grandin Theatre is a unique twist on BGCSWVA’s largest fundraiser of the year and takes place on Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving during the holiday season. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, we invite the community to come together to celebrate BGCSWVA’s 25th anniversary of serving youth in the region. The film will provide a look inside the Club experience and the impact created through community support.

CEO Michelle Davis, Director of Development Emily Pinkerton, and Board Chair Scott Jenkins believe that taking this unique approach to the annual BGCSWVA fundraiser gives the community an opportunity to engage more deeply with our organization, be immersed in our mission, and have fun. “We are pulling back the curtain on what happens behind the doors of Boys & Girls Club each day and the stories are powerful. I don’t want you to miss it!” says Pinkerton.
