Dear Community Partners, Donors, and Friends,
As the current Board Chair of Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA (BGCSWVA), I am pleased to announce the exciting news that, after a thorough national search, Rebekah Meadows has been named as our next Chief Executive Officer. Rebekah has proven her ability to lead this organization well while serving as the Interim CEO since January 1 of this year. She will officially begin her new role on May 15.
Rebekah is a familiar face at BGCSWVA having served the organization in multiple roles throughout her 11-year tenure. Rebekah began her career as a Youth Development Staff (YDS) in the fall of 2011. She served most recently as Senior Director of Programming and held the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer, maintaining steady leadership during the organization’s period of transition. Throughout her career, Rebekah has engaged as a passionate advocate for BGCSWVA’s mission and collaborator with school divisions and community partners, always keeping the interests of Club members front and center.
Rebekah grew up in Chatham, Virginia and has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Ferrum College. While she did not expect to fall into a career at BGCSWVA when she took her first position, she cannot imagine being anywhere else. The Club has become as much a second home to her as it is to Club members each day. After serving as a YDS and Unit Director in Roanoke, Rebekah was stationed in Montgomery County for a couple of years as Unit Director. Roles that followed provided leadership to our entire footprint, including Program Director, 21st Century Coordinator, and Area Director. She has a deep understanding of the demographics and needs of the 5 municipalities BGCSWVA serves.
Rebekah is excited and energized to lead BGCSWVA:
“Throughout my time in various roles at the organization, I have witnessed firsthand the power of our youth development program. It changes lives. In this new position, I look forward to increasing organizational effectiveness to maximize impact, will strive to create and maintain a positive work environment for team members to learn, grow, and thrive, and am dedicated to serving all members of Club families to create a lasting impact on youth.”
Two of Rebekah’s greatest professional accomplishments to date include increasing organization-wide professional development and family engagement and writing and being awarded over 7 million in 21st Century grants. Rebekah is a member of the Virginia Partnership of Out-of-School Time Leadership Advisory Council and the 21st Century Advisory Committee. When not making a difference at the Club, Rebekah enjoys exploring outdoor opportunities this region provides and spending time with friends and family, including her husband Tyler and two dogs.
Thank you for your continued support of our Clubs. Without your generosity and dedication, we would not be able to support the many children and teens who enter our doors each day.
Sincerely,
